Lining your Chimney

Lining your Chimney

Chimneys are used to safely remove the bi-products of burning from your home. Whether you use a wood burning stove, log fire or gas appliance the fumes are taken to the outside of your home without causing any danger or discomfort to the inhabitants.

Chimneys can need lining for several reasons:

  • If the flue is leaking smoke from your appliance into another room of your house
  • If the flue that is already installed is too big for the appliance being used
  • If the flue is external and too cold to draw air in properly
  • If tars and condensates are coming through the chimney in any part of the building and causing staining

There are many different ways of lining a chimney, the suitability of these methods depends on your individual system. Always seek the advice of a HETAS qualified installer on which solution is the best for you.
